Frequently Asked Questions

How much do sessions cost and do you accept insurance?

Our standard rate for a 55-minute therapy session is $150. We accept Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, and UnitedHealthcare. If you have questions about your specific plan, we recommend contacting your insurance provider or reaching out to us directly.

How long does therapy usually last?

The duration of therapy is unique to each individual and their specific goals. Some clients come for short-term, solution-focused work to address a specific challenge, which might last a few months. Others engage in longer-term therapy to explore deeper patterns. We will work together to create a plan that feels right for you, and we will regularly check in on your progress toward the lighter, more balanced life you envision.

What can I expect in my first session?

The first session is a "getting to know you" conversation. There's no pressure or expectation. We'll discuss what brought you to therapy, what you hope to achieve, and answer any questions you have about the process. It's a collaborative meeting designed to ensure you feel safe, understood, and confident that we are the right fit for you before moving forward.

What types of therapy do you practice?

Our approach is integrative and tailored to you. We draw from several evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). All of our work is delivered through a trauma-informed, strengths-based, and person-centered lens.

Where do the sessions take place?

We provide secure, confidential virtual therapy sessions for clients located in Maryland and Virginia offering you comfort and convenience. We also offer in-person sessions at our Elkton, Maryland office for those who prefer a traditional setting. Lastly, we also offer in-home therapy services to those within the immediate area.

Is everything I say confidential?

Absolutely. Confidentiality is the cornerstone of therapy and a legal requirement of our profession under HIPAA. Everything you share in our sessions is kept strictly private. The only exceptions, as required by law, are situations where there is a risk of serious harm to yourself or others, or in cases of child or elder abuse. We will discuss these limits of confidentiality in detail during our first session to ensure you feel completely safe and informed.
